The estimated hourly base pay rate for this position is $32.5. <a name="_Hlk213173700">This position is entitled to $2.5 shift premium per hour. </a>This position may also be eligible for S&C’s annual incentive plan (AIP). AIP amounts are variable and are dependent on both company and team performance, subject to eligibility criteria. The target bonus percentage for this role is 4% of annual base earnings.Join Our Team as a Machinist (Machine Shop)!Are you passionate about machining? S&C Electric Company is seeking a dynamic individual for our machine shop function. As a Machinist you will be crucial in ensuring smooth operations and supporting our diverse team. You will work in a production environment, engage in continuous productive activity and must meet requirements within predetermined time constraints. Tasks require the use of both hands and arms on a repetitive basis for a full range of motion.Key Responsibilities:•    Setup, adjust, program and operate CNC machine(s) according to work orders and specifications.. •    Monitor machine operation and perform trouble shooting tactics when necessary •    Read and interpted engineering drawings, blue prints, or study sample parts to determine machining operations to be performed. •    Manufacture and inspect parts in accordance with quality standards and target plans and verify correct run quantities. •    Perform basic routine maintenance on machines and tools to ensure longevity and quality fabrication, including cleaning and reporting mechanical/electrical issues to department leaders. •    Utilize an overhead crane and other material handling equipment to safely position materials for machining. •    Complete first piece inspection of parts using various measurement tools, confirming pieces are the correct material, quality, and specifications before beginning the machining process. •    Maintain accurate records of fabrication activities, including tracking the progress of job orders and documenting corrective action needed for the machine, part, or process. •    Deburr metal parts using hand and/or power tools, ensuring materials are safe to handle and are in a state that's ready for further processing. •    Meet department targets and consistently adhere to quality and safety standards. •    Understand and comply with all applicable Company policies and rules.  What you’ll Need To Succeed:•    1+ year of demonstrated experience with the set-up and operation of manual and computer-controlled Verticals, Mills, Lathes, Presses, Drills, other Machine Shop type of euipment •    Ability to use hand tools and precision measuring instruments such as scales and calipers. •    Good knowledge of machine controls and programs with the ability to setup machines to operate new jobs to specific specifications. •    Ability to read blueprints •    Ability to work independently and meet requirements of assigned materials requests. •    Good communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to articulate information efficiently and effectively to team members in a variety of production support departments. •    Basic computer skills with the ability to review and respond to requests via internal applications. •    Basic math skills with the ability to calculate quantities, weights, and measurements. •    Good interpersonal and organizational skills with the ability to understand and complete requests given by team member inside and outside of the department. •    Ability and willingness to follow Health Safety & Environment procedures accurately, reporting concerns promptly to the safety action team.  Physical demands: <ul style="list-style-type:disc;"><li style="background-color:white;color:black;line-height:normal;tab-stops:list 36.0pt;">Standing: All tasks are performed in a standing position with intermittent walking.</li><li style="background-color:white;color:black;line-height:normal;tab-stops:list 36.0pt;">Lifting: Frequent lifting of items ranging in weight from 5 lbs to 20 lbs.</li><li style="background-color:white;color:black;line-height:normal;tab-stops:list 36.0pt;">Walking: Occasional walking moderate distances (less than 1km).</li><li style="background-color:white;color:black;line-height:normal;tab-stops:list 36.0pt;">Carrying: Frequent carrying of items ranging in weight from 5 lbs. to 20 lbs.</li><li style="background-color:white;color:black;line-height:normal;tab-stops:list 36.0pt;">Pushing: Occasional pushing of motorized material handling carts with loaded weights up to 1000 lbs.</li><li style="background-color:white;color:black;line-height:normal;tab-stops:list 36.0pt;">Pulling: Occasional pulling of motorized material handling carts with loaded weights up to 1000 lbs.</li><li style="background-color:white;color:black;line-height:normal;tab-stops:list 36.0pt;">Bending: Frequent bending and crouching to safely lift parts of various sizes and shapes.</li><li style="background-color:white;color:black;line-height:normal;tab-stops:list 36.0pt;">Reaching: Continuous full range of motion from above the shoulders to below the knees.</li><li style="background-color:white;color:black;line-height:normal;tab-stops:list 36.0pt;">Handling: Continuous handling of parts ranging in weight from 5 lbs. to 20 lbs.</li></ul>Vacancy Disclosure:This posting is to fill an existing vacancy within S&C Electric Canada.Artificial Intelligence Disclosure:Please note that S&C Electric Canada may use artificial intelligence (AI) tools to assist in the screening, assessment, or selection of applicants for this position. Why Work for S&C Electric Canada LtdWith over 70 years of innovation in Canada and a century globally, S&C Electric is a trusted leader in power reliability.
